Mattson Studio Super-Crazy-Awesome-Righteous-Sweet Stupendousness Award of the Week: Alphaville

So, "Mattson Studio Super-Crazy-Awesome-Righteous-Sweet Stupendousness Award of the Week" goes to Alphaville, a vast emporium of things artfully retro, nostalgically whimsical, and, overall, beautiful and funny, located near my hotel in Soho, over on Houston Street, in New York.

I scanned this lovely lenticular-sheet of Peanuts goodness that I purchased there, to share here, which apparently would have been cut out and made into buttons during some unknown early 1980's wonder-day. Fotunately for my wall, and the annals of art history, it was spared the blade, and will now reside framed, in my office, where it will forever inspire me to change, and evolve, by slightly moving my head back and forth, or up and down quickly.

P.S. It is very hard to scan a lenticular hologram, but this at least gives a good idea.

  1. I actually got to design a lenticular/flicker lunchbox once, for The Power Rangers, circa 2005, but I can't find a picture of it yet. If this isn't design inspiration, though, I don't know what is:

  2. I actually really like what the scan did to this. Very cool.

  3. Yeah, it does look pretty cool, with the ghosting effect, actually.

Maybe I'll also try scanning it at different angles, then animating it. That would be a lot of extra credit, though.
