This was the first 'Gaspard and Lisa' book I ever saw, at Women and Children First Bookstore, in Andersonville, in Chicago, and it made an impression.
I remember being thrilled that paintings like these were being published for children, and instantly wished I had all of the originals in my home. It's not common to see images that you could imagine in a Chelsea art gallery also be targeted at wee little tykes, but here you had it, it seemed.
