Mole and the Baby Bird

Sometimes a book just kicks you in the butt. The book: "Mole and the Baby Bird". The butt, yours truly.

I mean, lord knows, it's not that the themes haven't been explored before: A baby bird needs to fly?!; if you love someone, set them free??!!, but, man, do they (Marjorie Newman and Patrick Benson) do it right in this one: this book is beautiful. Is this a series? It would seem to scream out for book siblings, what with its assured characters, and funny gigantic mole hands on every page. But maybe that part's just me.


Published by Bloomsbury USA, but with illustrations smelling distinctly like rural England countrysides. Perhaps a reprint for Americans, and happily so.
