There Was A Toad in the Bed When I Woke Up...
This is part of a series of (slightly) spooky poems and stories I'm working on, as a book proposal.
You may have seen the black and white version of the above over on the Mattson Studio Facebook page, which, if you haven't visited, please do!, as sometimes I'll post little in-progress versions of things, as well as other fun esoteria. My spellcheck doesn't like that word, but I do, so it stays. Some people even "like" the Facebook page, which seems to keep it happy, so, you know, you could theoretically do that too, dumb hint, dumb hint, sheepish hint.
Anyway, this one is accompanied by a poem, which I can post, as soon as I actually like it enough to post it. Editing, you know, it's a bear!...
At any rate, though, you will note above that the toad has a cat's tail sticking out of its mouth. Horrifying, am I right? Lest you think the cat gets digested, though, no, that doesn't happen, as you can see below:
I did, after all, say slightly spooky stories and poems. Now, yes, the cat is distraught, (very) wet, and, you know, very undignified, for a cat, but still, it ain't, you know, expired.
Editor's Note: This is the final color version of the black and white image that was hinted at over on the Mattson Studio Instagram Page™, which, you know, you should also visit, and, heck, follow, too, if you like.
Oh, you like all of these various social media options, do you? (Sarcasm, much?) And I didn't even mention the Tumblr and Twitter links in this post! It's better for all of us if I don't at this moment...I do hope you enjoy the pictures, though, as they've been fun to work on. Happy October Season, everybody, the greatest time of the year.
