Jill Thompson's Scary Godmother

A journal such as this one would be lacking in the Almost-Fall-Time if it did not highlight Jill Thompson's Scary Godmother book series. This journal does not want to be lacking. So:

Jill Thompson is an accomplished comic artist and writer, having worked on various titles and series for such giants as DC and Marvel, among others, and gaining quite a following. But then! Then! she up and made a (basically) all-ages series based all around Halloween.

The thing I like most about these books is her exceedingly intricate, graceful, and angular watercolor compositions, of which originals can be seen here. I'd like a few of these originals in my house, but will have to be content with her books until my book/multiple movie-tie-in/video game/global merchandise/entertainment/art empire ship comes in. It's out there somewhere, I swear. Hello?

Anyway, her attention to detail and slightly macabre, but still only spooky, not scary-creepy stories are really fun to read, and are perfect for those who would have no problem with Halloween year-round. I should add that the picture immediately above is from a black-and-white comic book in the series, but the top full-color pic is from a hardcover kid's book called 'The Boo Flu', which is probably my favorite. This is a great series for people, say, aged 7 and up.
